History of the W08

The W08 Nurburg evolved from Mercedes-Benz's commitment to engineering excellence and represented the company's flagship luxury chassis throughout the 1930s.

Development began in the mid-1920s, building upon successful eight-cylinder platforms to create a thoroughly modern yet powerful luxury automobile.

The Nurburg 460 debuted in 1928, followed by the more powerful 500 variant, establishing Mercedes as the prestige automobile manufacturer of continental Europe.

Production continued through 1939, concluding as global circumstances disrupted the automotive industry and luxury car manufacturing became untenable.
